Watrin was accused of sexually abusing several glue sniffing addicts in Sihanoukville. He says it was all a set up and he just wanted to help the kids that lived on the road. Again, he too like many others had good personal contacts to Maggie Eno of Mlop Tapang and even did some graphic artwork for them to be used on postcards. The arrest became a high profile "first" issue in Sihanoukville and had dozens of NGO's visiting Sihanoukville for this case in order to celebrate and party later in the Beachside Restaurants. He was orig. sentenced to 10 years in prison in Cambodia, his sentence was later reduced to 7 years and shortly before his term was served he was freed on a royal pardon. Watrin was not expelled from Cambodia and he says since he had not commited the crime he will stay in the Country in order to proof that he is not the person (pervert) APLE aimed him to be.
The german newspaper "die Zeit" ran a report in 2007 Die Zeit - Eine haessliche Angelegenheit which was commentted by a number of people from the german community in Sihanoukville. The Case was not only controversial but a mess at court. For APLE this one of their first high profile cases which was widely celebrated by the NGO's at the night of the verdict at Sihanoukville's beaches.

The complete set of files and the proof that the german proscecutor concluded they had no case on him with the "evidence" provided to them by APLE and ICE of the US Embassy in Phnom Penh are available to tpf-cambodia.com.

Finally the German Proscecutor who was checking the case and it's consequences under german law came to the conclusion that no crime had happened in Cambodia and followed the Defense lawyers plea:

In 2013 a Vigilante Group was started by Jimmi Lee of Angkor Bitec and Tanja Wetekam Tanja Wetekam Sihanoukville Cambodia on Facebook (Cambodia Scammers).

They started to close in on Watrin which by now had tried to start a new life again. Under the constant watch of Police,Mlop Tapang,Aple and many Expats he gave no reason of concern to anyone. Nevertheless the Phnom Penh Vigilante Group whipped up Facebook and other "kill , hang the bastard" sympathizers and called for violence against Watrin. Most of this Riffraff crowd are British, Australian and Americans, many of them known whore mongers like Tony, co owner of Charly Harpers Bar in Sihanoukville. What makes these people to take the "high moral ground" is a mystery.

Tanja Wetekam is an "old" enemy of Watrin. Watrin is Gay and Wetekam tried to get in his pants - with no success. That pissed her off to such an extend that she swore to destroy him. She was one of the major reasons why Watrin ended up in Jail and in 2013 she again is spreading her poison around eventhough he has served his time in prison and should now be allowed to get back to a normal life. Wetekam is an old US Gi Girly who managed to get hold of a US Citizen and merry him legally before he died. She now lives comfortable on his pension and operates the Penguins of Angkor Guesthouse/Restaurant in Kompong Cham but is obviously bored."

seems, they were partying for weeks.. .aple... after the trial...
wouldn't be suprprised, if they right now throw some few more...

in all pedo-cases listed, the children were living with the pedo and had families who would know about that.
and, these families were contantly financially supported by the pedo, in return for the abuse.
in case of some Belgian (another arrest from the links above), it was definitely known, that the money for the house for the living and what not was the payment for SEX with the child.

and, in the trial - in case of the german pedo - the judge ordered that the knowing family was to be 'compensated' with (another) 5,000 USD, which watrin refused to pay.

what does aple say about this practise... any official statement?

I saw wartin in the last few months in Kep and then a week or two later in Kampot. he is way older and thiner than the deceased guy and also frailer looking than in his passport.

the evidence provided by aple and Cambodia was dismissed by the german prosecutor (I understand from the "zeit"-article).
I would think, prosecutors there look pretty closely.
