Dead Birds, Guns, and Drugs, Seized in Battambang Facebook Raid
Cambodia News (Battambang): On December 29, 2020, according to a command of Lieutenant Sath Kimsan, the police chief of Battambang police station, and the coordination by Mr. Keu Bunnara, the court prosecutor, there was a crackdown targeted on a group of suspects who were using weapons illegally and drug trafficking in Thmor Kok district, Battambang.
The suspects were identified as Hoeun Pel, a 38-year-old man, Youn Vichai, a 15-year-old boy, and Koeun Ken, a 25-year-old woman. The police confiscated an airgun with 400 bullets, an air gun trigger, 30 packs of white powder suspected to be the drug methamphetamine or ICE weighing 8,80 grams, 2 phones, some plastic bags, 20 lighters, and some money.
Before the police raid, an account on social media named Paon Pel had posted many weapons for sale. Another picture showed dead birds that the gun users had killed with the weapons. After seeing these pictures on a facebook page, Mr. Sath Kimsan ordered the Thmor Kok inspector to search for the suspects.
The police then went to the suspect's house to search it and question the suspect about the firearms. The suspect named Hoeun Pel showed the guns to the police and said he had bought the guns for hunting, but now he wanted to sell them back.
According to the prosecutor, the police checked the suspect's house and found drugs and some equipment there. The police are investigated on the suspects for case preparation following the legal action.

I gather that the investigation was started because they were hunting illegally, but it's amazing how many pellet guns, mostly homemade, get in the news these days. Twenty years ago everyone in the boonies had an AK stashed somewhere.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

Hunting locally is still a thing, but selling guns on the internet is a no-no.John Bingham wrote: ↑Wed Dec 30, 2020 9:17 pm

Don't people realise that everything on social media is closely monitored by the authorities ?
