Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On December 28, 2020, the criminal police arrested a man for making a fake account using photos and videos of a beautiful woman to trick men into sending him compromising nude photos on social media. The suspect sent photos of a beautiful woman profile to anonymous men, and when they sent back a nude photo or video, he threatened to share them on social media if the victim didn't send him money.

There may have been some well known people involved, because the raid against the suspect was directed by some very high-ranking officials, including General Lieutenant Neth Savoeung, the Cambodian national police chief, Lieutenant En Bora, national deputy director, and Lieutenant Ngeng Chou, Director of the criminal department. The arrest operation was led by Lieutenant Cheav Vibol, deputy of the criminal department, and lieutenant Hem Bona, from the serious crime office.

The suspect was identified as Mak Hakchetra, 23 years old, originally from Battambang, but he was operating his scam in Phnom Penh. The suspect was busted by police in a sting operation, while he was picking up money after scamming a victim in Khan Toul Kok.
After the arrest, the police checked the suspect's phone where they found many nude pictures and videos of men, all of whom had replied to the suspect after he sent them videos of a beautiful undressed woman as bait. The police have prepared the suspect's case following the legal action.

In an address to the population, the Cyber-crime Department has requested online users to be more careful when they send photos on the internet, because this case is not unusual.
