Cambodia News,Phnom Penh: A suspect has been arrested after he abducted a 16-year-old girl and attempted to extort 10 million riel from her parents. The victim's parents filed a complaint with the police force of the Department of Serious Crimes at the Ministry of Interior. After receiving the complaint, the above police force cooperated with the Phnom Penh Municipal Police Force, Kampoul and Dangkor District Police to arrest the suspect.

The operation to arrest the perpetrator took place at 12:40 pm on December 17, 2020 at the traffic light. No. 217, called Chamkar Dong Street, near Thnal Bot Market, located in Thmey Village, Sangkat Dangkor, Khan Dangkor, Phnom Penh. Police did not immediately reveal the identities of the male suspect and the female victim.

According to sources, the abduction took place on the evening of December 16, 2020 at In Sangkat Preah Lang, Khan Kampoul, Phnom Penh. After he kidnapped the victim, the suspect called her parents and demanded 10M riel for the release of their daughter, but they did not agree and went to the police for help.

According to a source from the police, who asked not to be named, this case is not just about extorting 10 million riel from the girl's parents, because the suspect raped the girl five times.

The suspect, 37-year-old Sao Panha, lived in a rented house in Sre village in Kantouk commune, Kampoul district. The 16-year-old victim lives in Chrey Bak commune, Rolea Bier district, Kampong Chhnang province. According to sources, the two used to know each other through one of her friends.

The same source said that the young girl had stayed at home alone, while her parents were out taking care of their business. She met the suspect, who was a friend of a friend, on the street while she was out for a walk. He later took her to a guesthouse in Sangkat Kantouk, Khan Kambol.
Meanwhile, her parents searched for her daughter until 5 pm the same day before filing a complaint to the police to intervene, but she was not found immediately. The suspect stayed with the victim one night and one day and he raped her five times in a row. During that time, the suspect called to demand 10 million Riel in ransom from the victim's mother.
