Christmas Dinner 2020

Discussions about restaurants, cafes, coffee shops or bars in Cambodia. Feel free to write any reviews you have, whether its the best burger you've had in Phnom Penh or the worse pizza in Kampot, we want to read it! Discussions about Khmer dishes are also in here, or you can leave your own. If you own a restaurant, feel free to let the expat community know about it here so that we can come check it out. Found a favorite cafe or have a place we should avoid? Tell us about it. Asian recipes & questions are always welcome.

in Japan Xmas is a huge thing, although their Christmas dinners is traditionally a KFC meal, now that is the west taking over to the ultimate degree!!

That's cultural appropriation.

I’m sure Col. Sanders (God rest his soul), feels mighty offended. And don’t even start about Japanese Spider-Man.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Stay safe and distanced out there.

CDC recommends not traveling and gathering with the family for the holidays this year.

I found also with being in a different country then your own, one must be prepared to adapt if you are to do home cooking. It is mostly on what is available to buy in the shops, and what you have in equipment to prepare and cook that meal. When I had the bar/restaurant in Koh Kong I had no oven, same has today, so roasting joints were a no go, ...............
Get yourself a turbo oven. I bought one as Sunsimexco for 45$ about eight years ago when I moved apartments. I cook roast beef and Yorkshire pudding in it every week and cook roast chicken, duck, lamb etc. I also use it for baking and making pizza. You could get one for about 65$ now and being turbo they cook in around half the time of a standard oven. The latest models are halogen turbo and much better. If my oven dies that's what I will get next time. I will be cooking my Christmas dinner in it this year.

Thank you for suggesting this piece of kitchen utensil, its an excellent idea for my need, but most of all for making me aware of my memory, you see I was told the same from an old friend in Kohn Kong who had one, he said it was wonderful, before that I had never seen or knew of this type of cooker, and it seems I have even forgot about it up to now, thank you again I will now look into it.
Always "hope" but never "expect".
