Cambodia Naws, (Koh Kong): On December 11, 2020, at 1:00 pm, at the Old Market at Village 1, Sangkat Dang Tong, Khemarak Phoumin City, Koh Kong Province, there was a case of armed violence (with a K54 pistol), when a Cambodian retired military officer used a gun against a local fisherman.

The suspect was identified as Som Saroeun, male, a 57-year-old Cambodian retired military officer who shot at the victim, a fisherman named Nget Say, living in Village 2, Sangkat Dang Tong, Koh Kong.
After the shooting, the suspect escaped, and the police and military police had to surround his house and use repressive measures to take the ex-officer into custody at 5:20 pm today, and he has now been detained at the Koh Kong Provincial Gendarmerie. The victim of the shooting was taken to Koh Kong provincial hospital to be treated for a gunshot wound in the abdomen.

According to a source at the scene, the shooting occurred because the suspect was jealous of the victim, who had fallen in love with his wife, Phan Sokhon, aged 49. Also, both men were said to be drinking alcohol before the incident and were quite drunk at the time.
