We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Cambodia News (Sihanoukville): On December 10, 2020, two Chinese men were charged with abducting another Chinese man in a car and taking him a Sihanoukville hotel for purposes of extortion. The suspects were identified as Hu Cheng Long, 25 years old man, and Zhao XuChao, 26 years old. The victim, Xu RenWei, a 25-year-old man, a seller, got injured on the elbow and the waist.

On December 8, 2020, at 12:30 pm, the police received a call that 4 Chinese people had kidnapped a Chinese man, and drove off with him in car plate PP2BB-0276.
Lieutenant Choun Naren, Sihanouville police chief, collaborated with the local police post, searching for the suspects. At 8 pm that night, the police arrested one Chinese man and confiscated a car. On December 9, the police arrested another Chinese suspect at Chana Town hotel. On December 10, at 3:30 pm, the police released the victim at a hotel in Sangkat 3.

The suspects admitted that they kidnapped the victim because they needed the money, but unfortunately, they got arrested by the police, who foiled their scheme. The suspects' case was prepared for submission to the Sihanoukville provincial court.
