Cambodia News (Siem Reap): On December 4, 2020, an elderly woman was murdered in a robbery in Dach Pkar village, Soth Nikum district, Siem Reap. The victim was identified as Moeun Tream, a 71-year-old woman who lived in Soth Nikum district, Siem Reap.

Lieutenant Ping Chendareth, the deputy director of the criminal department, said that on December 4, 2020, at 7 am, the victim went to join a funeral in the village, and returned home at 9 am. Then, she took the cow to tie up at the rice field at the east of her village, 300 meters away from Champey village. After that, she came back to the funeral. At 4:30 pm, she rode the bicycle to check on her cow.

But the old lady never returned home, so at 7 pm her children went to search for her. They found the victim full of blood and bruises(got seriously injured). She was sent to the hospital, but she died on the way.

After the examination, the police determined that this case is a real criminal offense, aggravated theft. The victim lost her belongings such as gold, a gold necklace, 2 gold rings, and money for 7 million riels. The police are searching for the killer.

Siem Reap provincial police are working to identify suspects after a 71-year old woman was beaten to death in a robbery-murder case on December 4 in Sotr Nikum district’s Ta Yek commune.

Ta Yek commune police chief Ey Vin told The Post that the woman was robbed while she was tending to her cows about 2km from her house.

“When her children couldn’t find her at home, they went to search for her and found her lying unconscious at about 7pm on December 4. She was seriously injured and died on the way to the hospital,” he said.

Provincial serious crimes bureau chief Duong Sokha said that as of December 7, Sotr Nikum police were still investigating the case.
