I always get a kick when locals say they prefer to buy from Mondulkiri, or local Khmer produce vs Vietnamese because they don't use pesticides here. The city folk are so gullible when it comes to this sort of crap, and it's hilarious to hear them be so easily convinced when they buy from some fruit seller on the side of the highway. Uh, lady, have you ever been to the countryside?! Tons of pesticides used here are banned in Thailand and Vietnam.

Led to the banning of pesticides in Africa. DDT was the most effective substance, there was no backup. As a result, the mosquito population spiraled out of control.
