Information on Coronavirus / COVID-19 in Cambodia (Latest Updates December 2021)

That's $2000 for 14 days. Aren't they Australian quarantine prices?Arget wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 1:02 pm Most of the cases are Khmer returning but they don't need a 72 hour proof of negative. If the CPP made everyone get the test then the numbers would be way down on current.
But again this is a business opportunity. The hotels currently charging (for one person I know in day 9 of 14)$90 per day and $60 for meals. Capacity is 50 rooms multiplied by 150 multiplied by 14 = $105000 then two flights a month we have over $200000 per month.
I don't know who owns the hotels that are used but I would think they all have connections to the family or providing a dividend.
It would be interesting to know how many of the new arrivals are sponsored and can avoid this nonsense and how many are going through this latest racket.
I know there were a few people that got into Cambodia in recent months with fairly thin credentials to obtain their visa, and viewed the two days in lock up as a price worth paying. I doubt there are many of those now.

128 students stranded in Israel to be repatriated next week
“The Royal Government of Cambodia, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, has been coordinating with the Government of Israel to organise the repatriation of 128 Cambodian students who graduated from Israel and found it difficult to travel during the COVID-19 crisis,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement today.
It said with “good” cooperation between the governments of the two countries, Israel will send the Cambodian students to Phnom Penh International Airport between Monday and November 30 on a special flight that flies directly from Israel to Cambodia.
The special flight will then transport 250 other Cambodian students who have received scholarships to study in Israel.

In related news, 128 Cambodian students were finally able to return yesterday from Israel after being stuck there due to the global pandemic.
Koy Kuong, a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that all 128 students graduated with a degree in agriculture.
“They returned to Cambodia [yesterday], at 6am, by a direct flight from Israel to Cambodia,” he said.
He added: “[Today], at 10.45pm, the return flight will transport another 250 Cambodian agricultural students to study in Israel.”

A work colleague has provided a link to Fresh News' Khmer language site that appears to say Aeon Mall 1 will close temporarily because of COVID-19 infection.
Can't connect to the website right now but here's what was sent to me:
None of the English language news sites have it yet so I cannot verify - anyone else able to give further info?

there is absolutely no chance that this has come from an unacknowledged pool of infections
so i expect they will trace it to a recent arrival or foreigner quite soon

This appears to be pretty big news. My partner's phone hasn't stopped pinging and ringing all night regarding this latest positive case announced tonight.
The fact that the infected woman is Khmer, as opposed to anyone who's recently entered the country, raises a lot more concern than other 'near misses' we've had lately. Who did she get it from? And who else has 'that person' infected, let alone who the woman who went to Aeon Mall (and has also travelled to Siem Reap) has infected?
My own manager has been sending telegram messages to all of the staff tonight (late on a Saturday night) to ask if anyone went to Aeon Mall today. Many Khmers are very concerned. Especially that the PM has issued a warning himself.
Nobody can deny we've been extremely lucky so far here in Cambodia compared to other countries so far.
Let's pray that our luck hasn't just run out.
