Fake Money Man Scams Market Sellers with 10,000 Riel Notes
Cambodia News (Steung Treng): On November 24, 2020, at 9:10 am, the police arrested a man for trafficking fake money in Sreh Krosang village, Siem Bok district, Steung Treng. Three sellers filed a complaint with police after they got scammed by the suspect; they were identified as Ny Navy, a 50-year-old woman, Phlong Bunsor, a 37-year-old woman, and Hem Seanghoun, a 45-year-old woman.
The victims chased after the suspect named Ly Kriya, a 44-year-old man, after he used fake money to buy their products at the market. Then the three women went to file a complaint at the police station.
According to the order of the prosecutor, Mr. Jet Kemara, the police searched the suspect and checked his pockets and under the motorbike seat. They found 18 fake notes of 10,000 riels, 11 notes of fake $US10, and 7,485,000 riels of real money.
The suspect was detained at the police station with the evidence, and his motorbike was confiscated.

Quite clever really, most sellers don't pay a lot of attention to those notes.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

But making 10,000 riel is like making $1 USD notes. Maybe the time, paper, ink, and machinery cost more to produce the fake note than the real note is worth? Perhaps making 10,000 riel is profitable and unlikely to draw the attention of a $20 USD fake.John Bingham wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 11:36 pm Quite clever really, most sellers don't pay a lot of attention to those notes.

The Cambodian Police are famously Green
If it is good enough they will recycle it for sure.
If not, they will probably go to the central bank and get an official free refund.
just sayin'..
(but exactly this kinda shit does happen)
