AFAIK, the western dog owners were the ones who were pushing to get all the dogs on the islands neutered and vaccinated last year before the covid. That was a great move.
In spite of that, I'm afraid that some of the dogs may have been abandoned on the islands after covid by departing owners, but I'd be happy to hear that I'm wrong, and that everyone took their pets with them when they left the islands. :?:
Anyone know more ?

This should be done regularly. Nothing worse than a pack of stray dogs roaming around near resorts.

I've walked around the southern areas of Koh Rong several times, and the dogs were often a problem, just as they are in many areas of SE Asia

I've only encountered roving packs of wild dogs in India. I like dogs but they are nasty fuckers in a pack and it's not pleasant trying to get around with them barking and trying to snap at you and all that. You definitely need a big stick, but it never seems adequate for a pack. They should exterminate the brutes before they infect everyone with rabies.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

Last time I was on Koh Rong back in Jan 2018, I was walking along the new dug out road around to Soksan beach from Ko Touche when 1 dog appeared and started getting nasty,

I was fine walking along with stones in my hands, throwing them & keeping it away from me, when when another 3 dogs appeared, I gave up advancing, backed away and waited until they'd gone out of sight, and a couple of locals came along on bikes & I quickly followed them

Once theres more than 1 of them, you have to be extra careful. A single bite, scratch etc means a lot of time & money spent getting rabies shots

Not a good sign. What ive noticed is the fewer people are there, the more aggressive they get. Im probably going to head out there next month or the month after.

So its better to stay near the water if you are walking along the beach and have a weapon like a stick or rocks or something else like a handgun or one of those dog repellers.

All the stinky hippies on that island adopting dogs while on holiday really annoys me, if you really care pay for them to be desexed.

Most of the dogs on the island seem to belong to local people, wouldn't it make more sense perhaps for the owners to pay for them to be desexed ?
