Phnom Penh Gunshot Victim was Murder or Suicide
Cambodia Breaking News, (Phnom Penh): On the morning of November 22, 2020, people found the body of a man at the house no. 600R, Bayap Village, Sangkat Phnom Penh Thmey, Khan Sen Sok, Phnom Penh, causing great surprise.
Authorities have confirmed that the victim's cousin had found the victim lying dead on the ground floor with a bullet wound to the right ear.
The victim, 28-year-old Ny Ieng, a Cambodian national, was staying at the scene, and nothing appeared to have been stolen. A black Zoroki handgun was left behind and some bullets were fired.
Currently, the Bureau of Serious Crimes, the Sen Sok District Police Inspectorate and the Technical Police Office are continuing to search the scene, without concluding yet whether it is a case of murder or suicide.

A simple gunshot residue test will show if was holding the firearm when it was discharged.

It's scary that they never mention how he got the gun in the first place...

Are guns becoming more accessible and acceptable in Cambodia? When I first came here there was not much of anything you could do that was worse (penalties, jail, deportation) than being caught with a gun and/or using one. There were even very strict regulations for police having a gun.

Gun is originally designed as a blank firing gun. Someone (illegally) converted it to fire real rounds.cambo swa wrote:Are guns becoming more accessible and acceptable in Cambodia? I think the criminal brothers in China city are to thank for the influx of shiny new firearms. I believe they are punished by deportation for 3 years, then return to the Kingdom of Wonder after that.
As opposed to a stint in Prey Sar for any foreigner or local caught brandishing or using a firearm.
Except if the local is a drunk cop, military, or okhna.

Most illegal firearms come from Thailand these days. Knowing about China's social credit system, I don't believe these criminals will ever be returning.newkidontheblock wrote: ↑Tue Nov 24, 2020 5:45 am

Silence, exile, and cunning.
