Whiskey drinkers
Re: Whiskey drinkers
One question for all you hard Whiskey drinkers, when did they start putting a cork in the bottle top?
Always "hope" but never "expect".
Re: Whiskey drinkers
Just my guess but probably as the price of the bottle goes up the cork appears
But wait for more knowledgeable people to give us a good answer

Re: Whiskey drinkers
I just found this interesting little drop in the cellar..
Two types..
1. Cork stopper with metal / stone / plastic cap on the top.
2. Screw caps which are mostly on blends and high end Japanese whiskies, and old school single malts
https://greatdrams.com/a-few-thoughts-o ... y-bottles/
"The downside to cork closures, as explained to me by one Master Blender recently, and something I have experienced on more than one occasion, is that when you fancy a sneaky dram once your wife has gone to sleep, likely from your stash of ‘good stuff’ kept near the bed, you risk waking her up with that satisfying sound of the cork being released from the confines of its malty surroundings"

Re: Whiskey drinkers
But just like drinking a good bottle of wine, the sound of the cork going 'pop' adds to the overall experience.SternAAlbifrons wrote: ↑Sun Nov 22, 2020 10:44 am

Re: Whiskey drinkers
I don't mind a single malt, appellation d'origine contrôlée Nescafe '43. That's my whiskey/fuel.
Malaysian, bland, boring. Thai, Vietnamese is ok, but tend to be a bit bitter.
- although a late dry season Dong Nai brew, blow-dried first shift in the morning is surprisingly smooth.
Brazil lousy. Antwerp and Barcelona are EU's best, (stainless steel vats) although naturally quite opposite in character.
Over 80 single malts we got now, before we start discussing the blends.
But the old Geelong factory still makes the worlds best - according to most australian coffee connoisseur's taste anyway.
