Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): The local people caught a 30kg python on the street and returned it to the conservation officer on November 20, 2020, in Sangkat Chom Chao2, Khan Posenchey, Phnom Penh.

On November 20, 2020, people saw a python on the street, which they caught and sent to the conservation team. The local people said that recent construction destroying the bush remaining in the area means that the snake no longer has a place to live.

The conservation team will take the 30kg python and release it in a safe area, so that people will not catch it for trafficking.

Some locals revere them as a supernatural manifestation.

I once knew a guy with a pet Burmese python in Phnom Penh. He used to ride around on his bike scaring the locals with it wrapped around his neck. A couple years back he returned to his home country and died of cancer. I never did find out what happened to the snake, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was about this size now...

I wonder if it's the same python .... "Python in a Passap - Arriving near Wat Phnom at the Daun Penh statue, the tuk tuk driver saw a large python across his path. He stopped the ride to make sure the snake was not hit by traffic and the python climbed into his tuk-tuk."
