Prey Veng Pagoda School Gutted by Fire

Cambodia Breaking News, (Prey Veng): A pagoda school was completely engulfed in flames by burning incense candles and was not extinguished at 4:20 am on November 19, 2020 at Wat Prasat in Prasat village, Prasat commune, Kampong Trabek district, Prey Veng province.

According to the local police, there was a case of a fire in a school made of wood with a tiled roof measuring 24 meters by 18 meters, caused by incense left burning unattended at the school.

Police said that the fire completely burned the school and damaged property, including 7 large Buddha statues, 9 small Buddha statues, and building materials: 14 tons of V-18 steel, 15 tons of cement, 1 panel, ready to install. The new temple bought more than $ 4,000, carpets, mats, plates, pots and more, with a total budget of about 100,000,000 riels.

In this incident, the district governor of Kampong Trabek and the district police inspector led the force to come to the scene directly and use a water truck to extinguish the blaze. However, not much was left to save after the fire.
