Cambodia News, (Kampot): Residents use improvised explosive devices, killing one security guard at the scene and seriously injuring another in a land dispute between residents and the So Nguon Company in Trapeang Phlaing commune, Chhouk district, Kampot province at around 10 am on November 18, 2020.

Major General Mao Chanthurith, Kampot provincial police chief, told local newspapers that there were clashes at the scene this morning between guards from the So Nguon Company and the people in Trapeang Phlaing commune, Chhouk district. Tensions rose between the two groups until local people used shotguns against the security guards. One company security guard was killed and another was injured.

The first victim, 27-year-old Nuon Pheaktra, was born in Svay Rieng province, was shot under the armpit and died at the scene. The other victim is a 31-year-old man from Sampov Meas district, Pursat province, who was taken to Phnom Penh Hospital with serious injuries.

After hearing of the incident, the Kampot police chief ordered the police to intervene immediately, and until now, the specialized force is searching to find the perpetrators and punish them by law. His forces confiscated two firearms at the scene as all the people escaped.
