35 Cambodian students congratulated after graduating Australian Award scholarships
Australia’s Ambassador to Cambodia, Pablo Kang, held a celebratory event on Tuesday to congratulate 35 Cambodian students who have just graduated the Australia Award scholarship programme.

The Australia Award scholarship programme, delivered in cooperation with the Department of Foreign Affairs, provides opportunities for Cambodians to undertake full time post graduate study at a range of tertiary institutions in Australia.

The event, which was held at the Ambassador’s residence, was also attended by Say Samal, Minister of Environment, along with the 35 graduates.

The students graduated from 15 different Australian universities with master’s degrees in various fields, including biomedical science, global health, agribusiness and labour law.

During the event, Kang said: “Australia has provided scholarships to Cambodians for many years, going back to the days of the Colombo Plan in the 1950s. This demonstrates the high value we place on the long-lasting relationships with our regional neighbours”.

27 more young Cambodians have been granted scholarships to study in Australia and New Zealand. Well done to the successful candidates.

Acting Head of State Positive of Cambodians Awarded with Scholarships to Australia and New Zealand
AKP Phnom Penh, November 04, 2020 --

The Acting Head of State Samdech Vibol Sena Pheakdei Say Chhum is optimistic of the future of the Australian and New Zealand scholarship winners from Cambodia.

He shared his optimism when granting an audience to 27 Cambodians awarded with the scholarships at the Senate Palace early this week before they leave for their two-year studies.

Since the fall of Khmer Rouge, said the Acting Head of State, the Royal Government of Cambodia has been working hard to build human resources through different means.

Specifically for those who had been sent for overseas studies, they have come back and become indispensable resources serving in key and high-ranking statuses, and the new batch to Australia and New Zealand can do the same – he added.

Samdech Say Chhum encouraged the Cambodian scholarship winners not only to study hard, but also to well adhere to the culture of Cambodian and the host countries, and to abide by the rules and regulations of those countries and the schools.

He also reminded the Cambodian scholars to be vigilant to the COVID-19 and take good care of themselves.

Of the 27 Cambodian scholarship winners, 11 are women, and 18 will study in Australia and 9 in New Zealand.
