Husband Jealous of Man Drinking Beer with his Wife

Cambodia News, (Kandal Province): On November 1, 2020 at Romlech village, Kandal province, a man was stabbed in the head with a machete because the assailant was jealous of the victim for drinking with his wife.
The attacker is Ben Pisey, 30 years old, Khmer,construction worker. The victim is Her Sokly, male, 25 years old, Khmer, farmer. The assailant and the victim both reside in Romlech village, Toul Prech commune, Ang Snoul district, Kandal province.

The husband went to his mother's house to see his sick mother, when he saw the victim sitting drinking beer with his wife and siblings on the bed behind his mother's house. The suspect was jealous of his wife and the victim and he went to chase the victim away from drinking beer.

However, when the victim refused to leave, the suspect picked up a machete left on the bed and attacked the victim around the head with it.
The perpetrator was taken into custody at the district police inspectorate, and the victim was sent to hospital.

Damn, even you go to the hospital and survive you must be in need of serious plastic surgery getting hacked with one of those. Cambodian weapon of choice? I have seen many tuk tuk drivers in PP keep something similar under the seat for personal protection and for someone drinking beer with their wife.

Well fair enough too. If I saw a bloke sitting on a bed drinking beer with my wife I would be a bit put out myself. And if he refused to leave after being asked nicely then no doubt firm action would be taken. Probably wouldn't go as far as a cleaver, but then I am not living in a society where most problems are solved with major violence, as in this situation. I have however been in communities where this would not be seen as an extreme act, as I am sure many of the people on this forum also have.
