Thailand Travel Restrictions and Info

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

I thought STV was something you bring back from Thailand , not something to get in

Hey ho, we have a (cunning) plan...

Chinese tourists on the way
published : 12 Oct 2020 at 04:30
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has hinted that a group of Chinese tourists might travel on the same special flight arranged to repatriate Thai people to Thailand on Oct 26.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand sent a list of the first group of STV (special tourist visa) Chinese tourists to the Thai consulate in Guangzhou on Oct 5. Foreign Affairs Ministry deputy spokesman Natapanu Nopakun, however, said no Chinese tourists had been to the consulate to apply for an STV.

But repatriation flights to bring Thais in China back to the kingdom might be used to transport STV Chinese tourists to Thailand, he said. The ministry would discuss the matter with China. Mr Natapanu confirmed the ministry's repatriation of Thais and foreigners complies with the Emergency Decree and public health measures.

I hope this does not mean thta the country will be closed till then;

and what about us farrangs over 60 here??

Half the population in Thailand will be injected with the Covid-19 vaccine once it’s released and available to the public, Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul says. Oxford University and the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca are conducting trails of the new vaccine. Thailand is planned to be the Southeast Asia production site for the new vaccine.

The health minister says the vaccine will be first used on Thai nationals who are in their mid-60s and then the ministry will work to make sure at least 50% of the population is injected with the vaccine.

Why can't AstraZeneca just make the vaccine in uk, or make the vaccine in many of their operations all over the world

They would violate proprietary patents if they did that. Gotta keep the price high.

There should be a travel bubble between Cambodia and Thailand, like NZ and Australia Cambodia hasn't had locally transmitted covid ever.
