Shootout as Motocycle Bandit is Captured
Cambodia News,(Phnom Penh-Prey Veng): On October 23, 2020, an active armed robbery suspect from Phnom Penh fired his weapon when he was surrounded and captured by the Criminal Police Department in Sithor Kandal District, Prey Veng Province.
Police had been tracking Pich Thea, alias Chea Thea, alias Pe, 40, a resident of Yus Village, Russey Sanh Commune, Sithor Kandal District, Kandal Province, for some time, and eventually arrested him in connection with 9 cases of aggravated theft (armed robbery) committed in Phnom Penh in 2020.
The suspect is charged with nine armed robbery crimes involving motorcycles in Dangkor, Por Senchey and Sen Sok districts.
After the arrest, Pich Thea, alias Chea Thea, alias Pe, confessed that he and his accomplices had attempted to steal nine motorcycles these past few months in Khan Dangkor, Khan Por Senchey and Khan Sen Sok; he said that they succeeded 7 times and failed twice.

This is bad. I hope it isn’t a trend.
The old fallback, shouting ‘jaow’ and the crowd catching the thief and administering street justice, will no longer work. Crowds don’t catch thieves that are shooting at them. It’ll be like in the West. Crowds will either run away, or swear they didn’t see anything.
As a results more criminals will escape. And Cambodia will be more unsafe.
