Cambodia News, Phnom Penh: A female worker was beaten in the face and electrocuted in her right hand before she was strangled to death in her room on the fourth floor on Veng Sreng Street,Khan Meanchey, Phnom Penh.
The murder vicytim was identified as Suong Thi, a 33-year-old factory worker, born in Kvit village, Paing Lvea commune, Udong district, Kampong Speu province.
At 3 pm on July 22, 2020, after several days of a bad smell coming from the woman's rented room, some people living in the building reported the smell to the owner, who informed the police.
The local authorities of Stung Meanchey III came to check the room immediately. The door was locked, and when they went inside they found the body of the victim lying on a mattress. She had been beaten about the face and suffered an electric shock before she was strangled.

After examining the crime scene, the 3rd Stung Meanchey Police Force cooperated with the forensic experts to investigate the incident and reported it to the authority of the Technical and Scientific Office of the Phnom Penh Municipal Police.
Dr. Nong Sovannaroth, a forensic doctor in Phnom Penh, concluded that the victim was murdered after being hit by a suspect, causing facial injuries, and she was also given an electric shock before she was strangled. The victim had been dead for a few days when she was found.
Police are now hunting for a murder suspect.

They needn't look too far. Word is it was a cop who killed her.

The killer was found in other reports from this morning, he was dead of a 'heart attack' elsewhere in Meanchey. Can't say where this was reported, which is daft.

Two garment workers were found dead in separate rented rooms on Wednesday in Phnom Penh’s Meanchey district.

The two workers were allegedly involved in a relationship and police suspect the male victim, 30-year-old Pov Vuth, murdered 33-year-old Suong Thy.

The rooms had been rented in Stung Meanchey II commune’s Damnak Thom III village.

Commune police chief Em Pheary said Thy had a bruise on her neck which could indicate strangling. An electrical wire was also discovered on one arm, suggesting she was given electric shocks.

Thy’s neighbours told police they were not sure of the relationship between the two garment workers, but they were aware they fell in love and lived at separate rented rooms in the village.

On Monday, they went to work and returned to their rooms. Only Wednesday, the neighbours noticed a foul stench coming from Thy’s room and they broke into it to find her rotting corpse.

A few hours later, Pheary said, they found Vuth’s corpse in his room. Police suspect he died from a heart attack.

Dr Nong Sovannroth said that according to his examination, Vuth strangled Thy and gave her electric shocks when he became worried that she wasn’t dead.
