Officer in Bodyguard Unit Shoots his Wife and Commits Suicide

Stop the violence.

Cambodia News, Phnom Penh: Tonight, in another case of extreme domestic violence, an officer from the bodyguard unit shot his wife and then shot himself at an apartment in Sangkat Boeung Tumpun 2, Khan Meanchey at 7:20 pm on October 3, 2020. Both husband and wife died in the shooting.

The murder took place due to jealousy on the part of the husband, with the husband shooting his wife to death and then shooting himself from the left jaw to the right. The husband is named as Ouk Marady, and his wife named Keo Sreyda. Their deaths left four children in the care of their grandparents.

It seems he was a colonel in the National Police, not in the Bodyguard Unit.

Too many of these happening, anybody being issued with a firearm should have to attend emotional intelligence training beforehand.

Agreed. Too many drunks and emotionally unstable men have access to guns in Cambodia.
