Boats to and from Cambodian islands set to be cancelled once again

The threat of further storms has led to reports from residents on the islands of Koh Rong and Koh Rong Sanloem on the cancellation of boats to and from the islands for the next five days.

A staff from one of the boat companies told residents: “If you don’t want to get stuck in Sihanoukville because of your job or business, please get back to the islands as soon as possible today as all speed ferry companies may be closed from today for the next five days.”

The reason for the companies closing is still unclear, but speculation is that they have closed business due to the impending bad weather.

Sihanoukville and the islands were hit by the tropical storm Noul last week causing the boats to be cancelled. Nearly 1,000 tourists were left stranded on the islands, with 538 domestic and 423 international tourists needing rescue.
