Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. Man Chops up His Step-Mother

Kampong Chhnang Province: On September 19, 2020, a male suspect exploded in anger and used a machete to cut up his step-mother, causing bloody injuries, in O'Kandol village, Chrey Bak commune, Rolea Bier district, Kampong Chhnang province.

The suspect who was detained by the police was named as Khim Sina, male, 28 years old, resident of O'Kandol village, Chrey Bak commune. The man's step-mother, 55-year-old Chou Sophorn, lives in the same commune.

Before the incident, the man and his mother had an argument, where the mother was telling her son not to hang out and drink too much in the village. But that made the man even more angry, (to be told off by his mother), and he grabbed a machete and hacked at his stepmother, who was sitting on the bed. There was blood everywhere.

After the attack, the son ran away from the house, and his mother was taken to the hospital by the neighbors in the village.
The villagers told the police what happened, and in the afternoon of the same day, the police arrested the suspect, prepared a case file, and sent it to the Kampong Chhnang Provincial Police for further action.

Sometimes it's a fucking burden to be a mother...poor lady.

Two corrections though :
Is it his mother or stepmother ?
And i wouldn't call him a man :
Spoiler:
Merely a genetic-related global disapointment without enough organs to sell to make it square : no brain, no heart, no balls, and probably a bad liver.

I suspect a bit of lazy reporting, but most likely just the mother-in-law. Khmer often refer to their parents in law as simply "mom" or "dad". Makes it a bit confusing for us to switch back and forth between the two terms, but my hunch is that it was just the mother-in-law and the translation just kept the original terms.

Khmer men often get along well with their mother in law. Daughters, not so much. Or so the local custom goes. So much so there is a restaurant chain, ‘Mother in law’ 1,2 maybe 3. On Diamond Island, I believe. It’s been a while.

Shame what happened to the lady. Drunks unfortunately often have poor judgement.
