Rains cause floodwaters to reach emergency level (Video)
August 09, 2020 13:12 Om Saroeun
Cambodia News, Oddar Meanchey Province: According to the report by the local authorities, the Ochik Bridge at Ta Mok Lake is at risk of flooding, with the river at a height of approximately 3.83 cm, almost flooding the bridge and reaching the state of emergency after continuous rainfall from 3 to 9 August, 2020, in O Chanchean village, Anlong Veng commune, Anlong Veng district, Oddar Meanchey province.
According to the villagers, the Ochik Bridge is flooded every year in the rainy season. Now the Ta Mok lake waters are again flooding the bridge and surrounding areas, including some people's homes, and also causing traffic jams on the road.
Mr. Nhen Kuon, Director of the Provincial Water Resources Department, said this morning, on August 9, that the water of Boeung Ta Mok Lake has risen 3.83 cm high and is close to the alert level, if the rain continues, flooding may increase. If it reaches the height of 4.20 cm that will mean a state of emergency for the area, and people must be evacuated to safety.

Re: Flood News Across the Country 2020
Got a question. When a home gets flooded in the US, it’s a big deal. Carpets get ripped up, drywall gets ripped out, furniture and appliances that have been soaked are tossed out. The house get broken down to the timbers and then rebuilt due to mold concerns. Very expensive. Usually only after hurricanes.
