I'm standing up, so I must be straight.

Re: Caught my eye, photos in Cambodia :)
The pox ^^^
The Tonle Sap alone has an untold variety of traditional wooden boat styles. Each one developed over a thousand years for a specific purpose. Some of the most beautiful hand crafted tools you could ever see in your life. Same all over Cambodia's different waterways.
Over just one decade or two, right now, all that culture of craftsmanship, and the boats themselves, are being wiped from the face of the earth.
These ^^^ ePOXy resin and fibreglass boats, originally and mostly from Vietnam, cost far less to build, far cheaper to run, maintenance free, fast. So all those heart-achingly beautiful traditional wooden boats now have no place.
Pfft.. a thousand years of man's highest and finest genius... wiped away in 5 seconds flat.
(It's OK, you can weep if you want to - i do)

it’s very sad, but nobody rides carts or wooden motorcycles these days.SternAAlbifrons wrote: ↑Thu Sep 17, 2020 5:33 am

Do you think about those who suffered on these old sinking boats, who went fishing and could not return?
time passes, progress takes its toll, if it is possible to use new equipment cheaper, more reliable, faster, more economically, then it will be used.
by the way, you also write on the computer, not with a quill pen.
I'm crying....

Ha!
Don't try coming on the hard arsed, just-get-the-job-done, tough guy with me, Sinus.
WE all know you got a marshmallow-hearted, soft sentimentalist affection for very fine but very impractical outdated old stuff.
