Thailand best riding routes on Google Maps. The list has been compiled throughout the years based on trip reports by many riders. I remember driving on the 304 to Nakhon Ratchasima the views of the surrounding area reminded me of a similarity of the English Lake District, also a very steep section of road, good resort accomadation in the area. That was a stop off point for me on the way to Phimai Historical Park and it's temples of the Angkor period.

But talking about twisty roads, if you thought Cambodia only had Bokor, think again! I saw this on Facebook a while ago.

Loop therapy

After our two days (see previous post) of crazy messy slippery off-road rebellious riding, we finally reached our destination: Pramaoy. The town is not worth mentioning, except that it's in the middle of the National Road 55, AKA Cardamom road. The total road length is 180 km, 9 meters wide, has 45 bridges and took 42-months to construct with Chinese funding. It was officially opened three months ago. It runs from Pursat through the Cardamom to the Cambodia-Thailand border.

The locals call it China Cry road, coz it just leads nowhere (for the moment). We rode all the way to the end, where it strangely stops in front of a massive casino (under construction - pic 3) and then leads to a small road to the Thai border (pic 4 - closed obviously, even though we tried ). About 30km before that end, there is a beautiful mountain pass filled with sweeping bends. Louis had seen a picture of this pass some weeks ago (similar to the pic 1 we took here), and when he shared this with me I knew we had to roam towards it. And that ladies and gentlemen, is exactly why we suffered on dirt roads - to witness this winding and scenic road around the Cardamom. It was thrilling and absolutely breath-taking. Our drone seemed equally happy.
