Cambodia News, Pursat: A man has been arrested and taken into custody in Pursat for a double murder committed in Battambang nearly eight years ago.
At around 8:40 pm on December 4, 2012, in the house of the victim, at Battambang city, Battambang province, a 45-year-old mother, Chuy, and her 13-year-old daughter, Tang Keang Keang, were brutally stabbed to death with a knife, while the father and husband, a scrap-metal merchant, was away from home doing business in Poipet City.


The killer had a grudge against the womanand her family, because he used to work for her husband, but he was fired for stealing metal from his boss. The maid and another child belonging to the family were also in the house, but they could not do anything to stop the killer because he was armed with a knife.
The man then ran away until his recent arrest, by the Veal Veng administrative police force who finally implemented the arrest warrant No. 256 DP.CK, dated 7 June 2013, issued by Mr. Kim Ravi, Investigating Judge of Battambang Provincial Court.
The suspect has been identified as Chranh Oeum, 35 years old.

Cambodia News, (Battambang Province): Pursuant to the arrest warrant of the Investigating Judge of Battambang Provincial Court, dated 7 June 2013, the person named Chranh Oeum, male, 34 years old, was charged by the Provincial Prosecutor's Office with committing murder on December 4, 2012 in the village Prek Preah Sdach, Battambang City .

Following the brutal killing of a mother and daughter in Battambang City in 2012, the murderer had been on the run from the law for 8 years when he was finally arrested by the Takeo Provincial Police and handed over to the Battambang Provincial Police on the morning of April 24, 2023, according to the "arrest warrant" of the Battambang Provincial Court Judge.

The murders occurred on the night of December 4, 2012, when Chranh Oeum who was a military officer, was also working as a laborer in the warehouse belonging to a scrap metal merchant. The accused was angry with his boss, but the scrap metal merchant was not at home that night, so worker went into the house and stabbed the man's wife and daughter to death.

Authorities soon identified the culprit and tried to arrest him several times, but he escaped to Thailand, and only returned by crossing the border illegally into Cambodia in 2020 (during the Covid-19 outbreak). He went to live in Takeo province with his wife until his arrest on April 21, 2023 in Pong Village, Kwan Commune, Traing District, by Takeo provincial police officers.
