Back to school on Monday the 7th

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Back to school on Monday the 7th

Post by explorer »

I was in a village today, and a tuk tuk with a loudspeaker went through the village telling students to go back to school on the 7th. Students were also told to wash their hands, and bring food and drinks from home. There will be no food or drinks available at school.

Another student in another village had been told the same thing.

For those who don't know, most schools have stalls where people sell food and drinks, often in the school grounds, but sometimes nearby. These will not be open. So students must bring food and drinks from home.

What I expect to happen in reality is, students will walk a little further, and go to a shop to buy food and drinks, in schools where there is a shop near by.

This is true for all government (public) schools but not for private schools. They still seem to be opening on a case-by-case basis. I think we can all work out why.

Actually its not quite true. Children will only attend school 2 days a week. My friend's children will attend on Tuesdays and Fridays so will not attend on the 7th. Yes food will not be available at school and at our local school they are going to force the children to wear masks which is ridiculous. Our local private school (Florida) will not be opening and they have no idea when they might open.
