Re: What a lot of Barley..China threatens Australia's exports
The CCP's displeasure with Australia continues with more acts of using trade as a weapon.
The latest:
1. One more QLD meat abattoir banned for 'quarantine' reasons
2. A 2nd investigation into wine 'dumping' allegations
3. Huawei withdraws sponsorship of football club.

More: https://www.smh.com.au/politics/federal ... 55qv2.htmlA new report by the Australian Strategic Policy Institute has called for a broad coalition of countries to be formed to call out the CCP's increased use of coercive diplomacy and to factor in the heightened risk of doing business with China. The report documents 152 instances of Chinese Communist Party acts of coercive diplomacy between 2010 and 2020, with a sharp escalation beginning two years ago.
The report says the CCP's approach is unique in that it rarely employs traditional methods of coercive diplomacy, which are normally regulated through the government.
"The CCP is instead arbitrarily imposing measures without officially acknowledging the link between the measures taken and the CCP's interests, which allows for greater flexibility in escalating or de-escalating situations with less accountability and international oversight," the report says.

Here's another slap on the face
The Chinese government has reportedly banned Australian coal amid rising political tensions
In what could become a serious threat to the economy, Australia’s largest trading partner has reportedly sworn off its second-biggest export. Reports circulating from the resource sector suggest the unofficial ban in China has been in place since late last week as tensions between the two nations flare.
“State-owned utilities and steel mills in China received verbal notice from China’s customs to stop importing Australian thermal and coking coal with immediate effect,” commodities reporter S&P Global Platts wrote, citing several unnamed sources.
It noted that while Australian coal has proved “resilient”, exports to China had dropped “markedly” in August with analysts not expecting a bounce this year.
The “verbal notice” did not detail a timeline for how long the ban would be in place. With Australia selling nearly $14 billion worth of the stuff to China last year, the reports are being watched very closely by the Trade Department.

Scott Morrison has slapped down suggestions made by mining magnate Andrew “Twiggy” Forrest implying coronavirus may not have originated in China, saying he only takes advice from “experts in their field.”

^^^
The Au Chief Medical Officer does not recommend wearing masks where there is low community transmission.
Recommended social distancing measures and other precautions are generally followed by the PM (and almost all other politicians)
But i do agree in part - his religion is nutter, (charismatic christian - talking in tongues etc)
Unfortunately he is not an all round nutter - a cool headed, cold hearted, economy-only "rationalist"
I wish he was a bit less smart - then he might be as easy to knock off as Trump was.
Right now his popularity is soaring because of his good management of Covid. (generally)

Should work as well as the legally settled dispute over the South China Sea.
Basic principle of the PRC, use rules as a weapon against their enemies. Ignore any rules it disagrees with. Because there are no consequences, only rewards.
Or on an individual scale, PRC citizens are kept in line through a totalitarian state that watches them constantly and punishes them for breaking rules. When the state isn’t watching them (like in Cambodia), the behavior totally changes. Initially using anywhere like a personal toilet, food hoarding, now lawlessness in general.
