Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Cambodia News (Siem Reap): On August 31, 2020, the department of investigation and procedure collaborated with Sangkat Svay Dong Kom police to send two western men for questioning, a Ukrainian and a Russian, who are living in Cambodia illegally . The foreign men were identified as:

1. VOLODYMYR BEHAL, a 36-year-old Ukrainian man, an online worker, who had no passport. He came to Cambodia in 2017 through the Poipet border and lived in Sihanoukville. On June 7, 2020, the Phnom Penh court decided to sentence him 1-year imprisonment in Prey Sar prison. He was charged for entering Cambodia illegally.
After leaving the prison, he went to Sihanoukville, looking for his passport, but he didn't find it. So then, on August 1, he traveled to Siem Reap where he was arrested.

2. SERGY PODO SYN, a 58-year-old Russian man who had no passport. He came to Cambodia in 2017, from Thailand to Sihanoukville. In June 2020, he moved to live in Siem Reap.
He says he gave his passport to an unidentified Cambodian man for his visa extension. He hasn't received his passport back yet, and he couldn't contact that Cambodian man.

All the same, the two men have been sent to the deportation department on August 31 to follow the legal procedure.
