Four Injured in Restaurant Hot Pot Explosion

Cambodia News (Kandal): On August 17, 2020, at 9:20 pm, four people were injured while eating hot pot at 106 restaurant, Kompong Chamlong village, Ksach Kandal district, Kandal.

At 7 pm, a group of 11 people went to eat hot pot soup at the 106 restaurant, and they were enjoying their meal until 9:20 pm, when there was a gas explosion, causing four people to get injured. The victims were sent to the the provincial hospital in Prey Veng for treatment.

The police reported that the victims were identified as Chan Sokleng, a 36-year-old woman, Orn Kanha, an 8-year-old girl, Oun Neath, a 38-year-old woman, and Cheng Khunthea, a 26-year-old woman, from Mrearang district, Prey Veng. The restaurant owner is identified as Lad Mao, a 48-year-old woman.

Most of those gas cannisters look pretty dodgy , been refilled thousands of times, an accident waiting to happen. Maybe time to avoid hot pots from now on but the missus won't be happy.

Not a big fan of hotpots myself, but when I do go, I go to restaurants that use gel, not gas.
