I've just walked from riverside to central market and back this morning had the feeling Phnom Penh slowly turning into a large province town with only local shops restaurant about. The town can't survive on us retired expats.
Sat riverside for few hours nobody walking on riverside.
Did see a few down and out barangs around looking pretty bad.
I'm standing up, so I must be straight.
Black night is falling, oh I hate to be alone.

Britons rush home from France to beat new quarantine rules

LONDON/RESSONS-SUR-MATZ, France (Reuters) - Britons rushed to get back from summer holidays in France on Friday after their government said it would soon impose a 14-day quarantine on travellers from across the Channel due to rising coronavirus infections.

Britain’s government announced late on Thursday that it would impose a quarantine from 0300 GMT on Saturday on arrivals from France, giving an estimated 160,000 UK holidaymakers there just over 24 hours to try to get home to avoid isolating.

The sudden rule change dealt a fresh blow to tourists, airlines and tour operators all hoping for holidays after the pandemic, which has left many travel groups cash-strapped and facing an uncertain future.

Many British tourists headed towards the French port of Calais hoping to catch a ferry or a shuttle train home in time.

“We’ve changed our plans when we heard the news last night. We decided to head back home a day early to miss the quarantine,” one British woman at a service station on the motorway to Calais told Reuters.

During their week’s camping holiday in the south of France, her family had met fewer people than on a typical day in their hometown of Guildford, southern England, she added.

The new quarantine rules apply to France, the second most popular holiday destination for Britons, the Netherlands and the Mediterranean island of Malta, transport minister Grant Shapps said.

It's a typical British farce. Interestingly, France has imposed similar reciprocal 14 days quarantine rules on UK travellers to France. They are not even claiming it is because of infection rates - on no - it just because they want to be petty about it. So, anyone who was still planning to visit France and can happily self isolate on their return are now going nowhere, so they have killed off whatever tourism between the UK and France remained.

And we think we are going to be able to do a deal with the EU on fishing with the French at the table? Bon chance

why are all the sheep rushing 'home' back to UK?
Most prob don't need to, but are just indoctrinated by the Nanny State, and hence willingly oblige - let's see how loudly they bleat when the furlough ends!

Maybe because in France we don't host tourists for free ?

Never been on holiday abroad ? You have to pay all with a plastic card, or with numbered papers stripes with dead people's faces on it.
We call that "money". Make sure to bring enough, otherwise you might end up in tricky situations, awaiting deportation just like in Kow....
It's just a very common thing, really.

So, the "sheeps" are acting responsibly to me. Not like like their representatives....

The UK holidaymakers in France who 'rushed home' wanted to avoid 2 weeks of quarantine. Some of them are afraid of losing their jobs. That's why they 'rush home'.

And why be so patronising ? Most people are just trying to get by as best they can. That doesn't make them sheep.

I thought you got quarantined on arrival, so your "furlough" was in Clink or some other hostel.

The point is : seems normal to me that the Brits are rushing back to UK before they have to get stuck 2 weeks on arrival, better than beiing stuck in France with all the 2 weeks quarantine in UK anyway afterwards when ready to move back.

The extra budget might be too much for many. The French businesses won't take credit tabs for an answer for those running out of money.

This shutdown deadline was too quick in my opinion. Deposits losts, planning ruined, not cool for them.
On the French business side, also not cool.

The Brexit & Covid Johnson's remix seems messy, seen on this side of the channel, but we get it that this random shitfuckery happened and it's tricky as fuck to manage.
Please rest assured that it's not that bright either in Frogland.
Just a bit more comfortable, for now.

We have to put masks again in many cities now, and the fine is 135e.

Grrreat.
