Dreams Predicting the Future???

Have questions or resources regarding Khmer Culture? This forum is all about the Kingdom of Cambodia's culture. Khmer language, Cambodian weddings, French influence, Cambodian architecture, Cambodian politics, Khmer customs, etc? This is the place. Living in Cambodia can cause you to experience a whole new level of culture shock, so feel free to talk about all things related to the Khmer people, and their traditions. And if you want something in Khmer script translated into English, you will probably find what you need.

Yet, Governments, corporations, medical facilities, designers etc all employ futurologists to determine the possible way that coming decades may play out and therefore allow them to have some preliminary groundwork or framework for how their models will change in 10 years to fifty years time.

Predicting a trend, based on vast amounts of information, is way different than predicting a single point, such as winning lottery numbers, with no information. Horses have handicaps on them all the time - every been to a horse race? Odds are posted. Share prices are predicted daily on CNBC, Bloomberg.

An easy example. Insurance rates. All based on numbers, actuarial data. They predict chance of injury or death based on tons of factors.

What does the the one thing life insurance NOT cover? Terrorism. Based on 9/11. Impossible to predict when an airplane will smash into someone’s workplace and kill them.

This is way different than SEEING the future. Very few people can do this.

And they sure don’t want anyone to know.

Because the crazies on CEO will come out turn them into verbal hamburger.
