Cambodian Govt to Propose Law Against Inappropriate Dress

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

You must be also similarly revolted by these ancient Khmer bas-reliefs. Dirty and abnormal, right?

I can't wait to see what ultra-conservative trash you support with nuggets of pure reason like "normal is normal" next.

How about the big bellied Khmer guys with their shirt rolled up to expose their wealthy tummy on a hot afternoon?

Comparing ancient bas reliefs of mythical beings living in a tropical jungle without electricity to the modern tattooed slovenly dressed masses of the West. The previous poster is dead on, the West is in deep trouble morally and ethically.

It's just an example of the way that culture is not defined by conservatism, nor is it defined by the West.
As if having electricity means that you should be forced to wear certain clothes. Besides, Cambodians are now living in a largely deforested tropical jungle, dealing with climate change, and still have a poor electricity grid.

Tattoos = bad? More discriminatory nonsense.

Men who think other men should wear shirts have obviously neglected their own bodies and don't want to be reminded of it by seeing guys that don't, so they are supporting levelling the playing field when even making a law against wearing shirts won't make things even.

Have you ever seen Cavemen costumes? "Adam and Eve" were completely naked as well
I bet that in the near future it will be the advocates of Western decadence that will be understood as ultra-conservative boomers.
btw. you are wrong, i'm not a conservative... rather, a leftist progressive.

There are a very few girls who should be told to improve their clothing. If the law was used only for these few, it would be OK. It would be bad if used to harass large numbers of girls.

There are actually so few, there is no need for a law.

If you go to Cambodian villages, you will see large numbers of men not wearing shirts. Are these all going to be told they have to wear a shirt?
