Thailand Travel Restrictions and Info

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

also as a side note
Burma, Laos & Cambodia are seldom destination countries for westerns but added on to a trip to Thailand.
this will put a stopper in tourism in the region..
Thailand’s Minister of Tourism and Sports, Pipat Ratchakitprakan, is reassuring Thais by explaining that all foreigners, regardless of their status or origins, will have to serve a mandatory 14 day quarantine, at least “in the foreseeable future”.

as I commented on thaiger, "serving 14 day quarantine" sounds, well just about right for the current regime. One "serves" a jail term, "serves" in the military, "serves" their masters.... not exactly what a tourist (with lots of money to spend) is apt to tolerate and will just say f - it.

Most countries are still discouraging tourist travel and 14-day quarantine is more or less normal globally. Thailand is not an exception.
Not saying that I agree, but that's the state of travel at the moment.

The current gubbermint has inherited a more or less working system which took 50 years to build. What is a soldier trained to do? Destroy, of course. There, mission completed. It will take a new gubbermint that is competent in building and what is important, in a much more competitive environment, to restore the system. Expect the new announcement of the same old in September. Nah, Thailand is finished for the observable future. One of very few areas where Thailand had a competitive edge was tourism, well that is fubar now. Back to rice farming.

Gotta agree with you sadly, they will extend the travel bans as long as it suits them with no regard for the long term consequences. Should be some awesome.deals on real estate for the elite to acquire at rock bottom prices in about 6 months.

hope this is NOT a sign of upcoming restrictions;
Now Air Asia X, the international division of Air Asia, has closed reservations for all flights in its global distribution systems until October 31, 2021. But they claim it’s only a temporary measure “as it awaits clarity on travel bans and restrictions across Asia”.

Airlineroute’s timetable and background information on advance bookings indicated flights on AirAsia X are “unavailable” or “sold out” until October 31, next year.

Thailand ready to open border for Cambodian migrant workers

Thai authorities have prepared to welcome back migrant workers from Cambodia as Thailand is moving into phase 7 of its Covid-19 lockdown easing, the Pattaya Mail has reported.

Under the next phase of reopening, migrant workers from Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos will be allowed to enter Thailand to work under disease control regulations.

At Aranyaprathet border crossing in Sa Kaeo province, health officials, immigration police and customs officers have coordinated their efforts to enforce regulations including 14-day quarantine, health certificate verification and contact tracing procedure.

The implementation of Phase 7 of reopening will also allow border markets to resume operations after the lockdown has been imposed since March.
