KATHMANDU: With the government announcing to resume all international and domestic flights from August 17, the Ministry of Culture Tourism and Civil Aviation today said that it would let all tourism related activities including mountain climbing in the autumn season commence.
With the latest announcement, the tourism fraternity believes that the industry which incurred a loss of over 10 billion rupees a month during the COVID-induced nationwide lockdown would gradually return to a new normal.
“The ministry plans to resume all tourism related activities by following health and safety protocols from August 17,” ministry’s secretary Kedar Bahadur Adhikari said, adding that safety protocols are being finalised by holding consultations with stakeholders concerned.

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

Re: Nepal opens for tourism, autumn climbing activities
Looking at how to get to Nepal for September. Getting out of Australia is the most difficult part of the process as I see it. I think I'll try for a travel exemption on compassionate grounds with the death of my father earlier this year and his wish to have his ashes returned to Wales. Then find a jumping off point to get to Kathmandu.
I doubt authorities will accept my reasons for travel.

If Thailand and Myanmar open up, that's an easy land route for a break while avoiding airports.

Don't see them letting people out to travel till early next year, and that's me hoping that this Oxford trial is a smashing success.Kung-fu Hillbilly wrote: ↑Wed Jul 22, 2020 12:36 pm Looking at how to get to Nepal for September. Re: Nepal opens for tourism, autumn climbing activities
The Australian government know if they open the gate for travel too soon waves of reinfection are inevitable, so hoping outbound travel resumes from early next year is being very optimistic, I think. Early to mid 2022 might see some normality, but obviously the length of that piece of string sits murkily at the bottom of everyone's crystal ball.crob wrote: ↑Wed Jul 22, 2020 2:13 pmDon't see them letting people out to travel till early next year, and that's me hoping that this Oxford trial is a smashing success.Kung-fu Hillbilly wrote: ↑Wed Jul 22, 2020 12:36 pm Looking at how to get to Nepal for September. A vaccine is our only hope for normal travel to return within the next year or two methinks.
