Some sort of police raid on hostess bars in st 130 and 136?

This is the part of the forum where we discuss Cambodia's nightlife! While most bars, nightclubs, pubs, beer gardens, and hostess bars are in Phnom Penh, we discuss the Cambodian nightlife across all of Cambodia, including Siem Reap, Kampot, and Sihanoukville. The main nightlife areas in Phnom Penh are on Street 136, Street 130, Street 110 and Street 51, but there are other party spots that aren't girlie bars where expats, tourists, and locals drink until the sun comes up. Feel free to post specials and promotions that relate to nighttime fun!

To cap everything off the municipality has now decided to enforce its demand to remove all external furniture and fittings from the front patios and all front external metal roofs from the bars. From today it is ripping them all down, starting at Butterfly bar in street 136.

So the bars are sort-of open, but you can't sit outside in the fresh air, but must gather inside with a whole lot of strangers in a darkened room ? That sounds healthy.

(This might have been fun before coronavirus, but sounds downright stupid at the moment IMO.)

Of all the areas to concentrate on?

If there were anywhere that could have been pedestrian only, this is probably it. Food carts, Tuktuks. No oversize SUV or chinese populated coaches, on a gawping run. That would have been a good choice.

Maybe in another 20yrs?

I think the law / rules for having a steel frame and roof over the footpath was changed before 2009 , because I wanted to put one up on my place when I bought it, and was told only those roll-out canvas type were allowed.... Can anyone remember the accident when one fell down ?

Is this clean-up only on a specific area on 130/136 or has it expanded to riverside and the streets around ?
