Get Rid of Cock-Fighters! Locals Appeal to Phnom Penh Governor

Cambodia News, Phnom Penh: Local people have requested HE Khuong Sreng, Governor of Phnom Penh, to take action to shut down the large cock-fight pit in Russey village, Sangkat Stung Meanchey 2, Khan Meanchey!
Image
Sources from local people said that the cockfighting arena has been open for a long time and they have seen the authorities crack down once, but then it reopened, and even more people came to gamble there.
Image
The source added that the gambling site now has dozens of visitors, both young and old, who bet hundreds or thousands of dollars, shouting loudly throughout the village, upsetting the inhabitants and disrupting village life.
Image
The gamblers sometimes quarrel and fight so much between themselves that it makes the villagers very scared; they are very concerned about their families' safety, and worried about the theft, house robbery, and personal violence originating from this gambling source. The local residents say they have had enough of the insecurity, and they ask the governor to please intervene and close the cockfight pit once and for all.

They may or may not close this one, but cock fights occur in many different locations throughout Cambodia. It is difficult to stop because some people make money from it.

From my experience! The cock fights are "maybe" not so bad if the cocks are not wearing the metal spikes on their legs (gaffs or spurs or postiza).... when they do fight with the spikes "on" the fight is usually over really quick and if the cock is injured the people seem more interested in collecting their bets, than euthanizing the injured cock, its very cruel! Hope they can stop it.
But then again I have been guilty of putting a live fish on my hook for bait! That could be seen by some as very cruel!
I guess its all a matter of perspective!
My wife said to get one of those pills that'll give me a huge hard on for hours! I brought her back some diet pills, Now I am hiding out in Cambodia for a few years until she calms down!
