Nigerian Scammer Got Greedy and Got Busted

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Ha! What makes you think that?
HELEN GRACE WILLIAMS, who works as a military nurse in Damascus, in Syria.
The suspects, using the woman's account, said that she had found a box under a tree in Syria that contained 3.5 million USD in cash, which she wanted to invest in Cambodia.
Sounds legit, I'm surprised it didn't work.

Well, there's a variation of the 1980/90s story of a Nigerian prince who's father abdicated to another country and needed to deposit millions of $$ for safe keeping in another country. :D

LOL. Of course the first thing you think of when you find $3.5M buried under a tree in Syria is to contact an unknown Cambodian on facebook.

Why don't they ever try it on with me? I'll play along and wind them right up, I will happily spare a few minutes a day to waste their time.

They learned Biz Best Practice #101 from a company called Shell
https://www.globalwitness.org/en/campai ... gJ77_D_BwE

^^^ only one example of the many invaluable lessons Shell has taught Nigeria over the decades of plunder, corruption, displacement, environmental destruction and murder.

The famous Dutch rectitude - "walk and talk with a broomstick up the bum uprightness" is as empty as a Nigerian marriage scammer or drug dealers promises.
Damn those decadent western capitalist multi-nationals for screwing Nigeria.

How about those Nigerian politicians and business man that take the bribes?

Anyhow, my point was not about feeling sorry for Nigerians who by circumstance resort to scamming. It was about why Cambodia allow them to come here when you look of all the news reports of scamming Nigerians here.. Anyone wonder if there any honest Nigerian in Cambodia?
And why are they letting western people in when they end up as homeless junkies sleeping on the streets. Quite a few scammers as well and a lot of them engage in illegal activities like soliciting working girls and smoking illegal drugs. :please:

If someone wanted to report another one of these scams, are there particular police involved with online scams, or just any police? Anyone know their phone numbers, or where to contact them?

If a scammer in Cambodia is befriending ladies in America on social media, and trying to get money from them, would the Cambodian police care, or do anything about it? He may try to scam Cambodians too, but most of them don't have much money, and are not likely to send money.

Anyone know how to report this activity to Facebook, and get them to do something about it? You can click on certain things in Facebook, which hypothetically lets them know, but you probably can't report any details, or communicate with a human. Then they don't do anything about it.

Scam baiting is such a satisfying and enjoyable form of vigilantism. Try it once and you'll never look back. Just go to your gmail's spam folder and voila you'll find a treasure trove of fraudsters waiting to be baited.

Yep it's good fun. What's interesting is how much BS and insults these guys will take if they think they got a live one hooked. The real challenge is to try to get them to send you some money first "as proof of their sincerity ". Never managed it yet but fun trying.
