Cambodia News, Phnom Penh: At 3:20 pm on July 13, 2020, the specialized police forces of Por Sen Chey district and the police force of Post Choam Chao 3, led by Mr. Mon Vuthy, the district police inspector, cracked down on two drug traffickers, a mother and son.

The suspects were identified as 18-year-old Ly Hak Leng, and his mother, 49-year-old Nguon Sambo. The arrest was made under the coordination of Mr. Muth Dara, Deputy Prosecutor of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court. Police seized two packages of drugs.

Police said the suspects had been involved in drug trafficking for a long time, and that the Por Sen Chey district police had been looking to arrest them for a long time, but it was not until July 13 that Mr. Mon Vuthy led the police forces to crack down and arrest the two family members.

According to the district inspector, three years ago he arrested the woman's husband for drug trafficking, and the man was convicted and sentenced to 10 years in prison.
However, the trafficking continued as the wife and children took over the drug business. He said he had been pursuing the case for a long time because people reported to him that the family was still actively involved in drug trafficking.
