Vietnamese Arrested at the Cambodian Border with 11Kgs of "Chinese Tea" Drugs

Cambodia News, Svay Rieng: Svay Rieng Provincial Police says a that suspect in Vietnamese cross-border drug trafficking, who was arrested in possession of 11 kg of methamphetamine and ketamine, was sent before the Svay Rieng Provincial Court to take legal action on July 11, 2020. The suspect has been identified as Nguyen Hong Phuc, a Vietnamese male national.

The Svay Rieng Provincial Police Inspectorate, in collaboration with the provincial Anti-Drug Bureau, apprehended the suspect at the border post No. 169-170 in Bavet when he was crossing into Vietnam by motorbike.

The authorities searched the man and seized a total of 11 kgs of drugs: 5,846.24 grams of methamphetamine, and 5,007.25 of ketamine.

The drugs were disguised in the identifiable green and gold packages of Guanyinwang Chinese tea, notoriously used by smugglers trafficking methamphetamine for a Chinese syndicate operating from Myanmar throughout South East Asia.
