Vehicle Taxes to Be Collected Next Month
AKP Phnom Penh, May 27, 2020 --

Collection of vehicle taxes for 2020 will take place from June 1 until the end of November, according to the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MoEF), warning that those who fail to fulfill their road tax obligations will be fined.

A ministry’s announcement issued earlier this week said that vehicle owners shall submit tax declarations and payments at provincial or district taxation departments or at MoEF-partnered banks including Canadia Bank Plc., ACLEDA Bank Plc, Vattanac Bank, Cambodia Public Bank Plc. or any other partnered banks.

From January 1 2021, the MoEF’s General Department of Taxation will cooperate with relevant competent authorities to check vehicle tax declarations and fine those who have not yet paid their vehicle taxes, the announcement added.

Last year, about US$1 million was collected in fines from over 5,000 vehicle owners who did not pay their 2019 road taxes on time.
