Thailand Travel Restrictions and Info

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

i question, if like Cambodia did, they ban american Passport holders, (or any country PP holders that show high rates of infection) even if they have not been to the states in xx months, years

Even keeping it at 2,000 tourists/day.... just barley enough to stimulate the economy .....
Oct 2019 international arrivals were an average of 100,000/day
Dec 2019 was up to almost 133,000/

The economy will be in shambles.

2019 they received almost 39.8 mill.
forecast now is down to around 10mil

If you let in 2,000 a day split between the locations highlighted in the original graphic and assume they stay for say 14 days each, you'll barely notice them. Just over 5k in each location at any one time, peanuts.

Today, sunday, traffic is like pre-corona in Pattaya, due to monday and tuesday being holiday. Ecxept the damn tourist buses, which I miss like toothache.
80% Bangkok license-plates. After tuesday it will be quiet again!
Amari and other 5 star hotels are > 80% full!

LOL.

1. So Thailand has abandoned its travel bubble program since its "safe nations" list has collapsed, namely China, S Korea and Japan, all of which have seen infection spikes.
Civil Aviation Authority senior figure Jula Sukhmanop said that the renewed spikes meant that the bubble plans would be delayed indefinitely.

Now was a time to concentrate on the domestic market while the government figures out what countries should be in the bubble over the next couple of months.

2. A Bloomberg story this week said Thailand's economic outlook, according to analysts, will be the worst in Southeast Asia.

So, what to do? Do they dare open up the borders, cut away most of the visitor restrictions, and go back to being a quantity over quality destination, as some tourist-dependent European nations are doing.? I hope the answer comes sooner rather than later.

The economic pressure is building and the half baked souffle solutions are collapsing.
