Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Cambodia News, Kandal: According to the Ministry of Interior's report from local police, there was a domestic violence incident on 1 July 2020, at Prey Chas village, Vihear Sour commune, Khsach Kandal district, Kandal province.

The victim was named as Khorn Savoeun, a 56-year-old Cambodian woman with a disability in her right hip, a resident of the village, who was beaten on the leg and shoulder by her 33-year-old son, Pov Kunthea. The suspect arrived at his family's house in an intoxicated state, (drug use is suspected), shouting and waving a 1.97m bamboo pole, with which he attacked his mother.

Police came and arrested the man as he was leaving the house. Neighbors say that the son is a no-good man who often used violence against his elderly parents, but until now, they never wanted to file a complaint with police because he is their son. This time the man has been arrested and will be dealt with according to the legal procedure.

Let's hope they will wipe the smirk off his face.
