S’ville street sellers told to stop anarchist trade-
One of the things many many locals and tourist like, are the street vendors>
will this extend to the rest of the country?
will this extend to the rest of the country?
https://m.phnompenhpost.com/national/sv ... bnQyrg_bP8Preah Sihanouk provincial administration officials have vowed to act against operators of more than 100 unauthorised stores and carts in the town after they were accused of affecting the environment, public order and space.
Lim Pheaktrey, a municipal hall official in charge of public administration and environment officials have told the vendors that they are not allowed to sell merchandise on the streets.
Pheaktrey said: “By order of the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Administration, there must be urgent action from June 17, to stop such anarchist trade. If they don’t follow orders, we will confiscate the carts and materials and keep them temporarily at the provincial hall.”
He said the vendors have had an impact on the public and tourists because they don’t dispose of rubbish properly and have poor sanitation practices.
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

^^^^
So while they're cleaning up the street vendors and carts, why stop there? Why not clean up all the gambling houses and all the vice that goes with that. The Wuhan virus makes it an ideal time to change the image, reputation and target tourist for the place for the long term.

This is a fairly common, ongoing refrain, year in year out.

No No No...This is the Hung crew Indirectly Taking more business land from 'Kahmers' so they can pass it on to the Chink Virus to conclude their complete take over of the area. It used to be a Great place to go, now it is a super Low class Chink beach resort. No Cambodians allowed, DISGUSTING.

How sad, but in the PRC owned SHV should we be surprised. Yet another charming part of the country removed unnecessarily, a bit like the vendors in Bangkok which were a loss but these guys are just people trying to scrape a living together after the wilful destruction of the place they once knew as their home.
I mean as far as I was aware the "people" who didn't dispose of their garbage correctly and had poor sanitation practices was the Chinese owned and operated casinos leaking shit and trash into the sea.

Um, let's not kid ourselves and pretend Khmer are leaders at disposing of trash properly, in Sihanoukville, PP, or anywhere.

Change of heart from Sihanoukville authorities:
Sihanoukville Authorities Bow to Public Pressure, Reverse Street Vendor Ban
Lay Sopheavatey 23/06/2020 3:26 PM
After a week of angry criticism from the people of Sihanoukville, Governor Y Sokleng** has relented and instead chosen to negotiate with street vendors.

**CEO News Fact check: The present governor of Sihanoukville province is not Governor Y Sokleng, but Governor Kuoch Chamroeun, the former Kampong Cham provincial governor, who was assigned this new position in July 2019, after former Preah Sihanouk Governor Yun Min resigned following the fatal collapse of a building under construction in the Sihanoukville city center.
