Five Saved in Dramatic Sea Rescue as Fishing Boats Hit the Rocks
Cambodian News, Sihanoukville: Five fishermen stranded on two boats due to high waves and bad weather between Sihanoukville and Koh Rong, were rescued today after Oknha Tep Vichet's speedboat went to save the men in a dramatic 2 hour rescue.
Preah Sihanouk Provincial Police Chief Lieutenant General Chuon Narin confirmed that at 3:20 pm on 29 June, the weather on the sea was cloudy and rainy with very strong winds, causing the fishing boats to start sinking. There were five men aboard the vessels.
Oknha Tep Vicheth said that due to the high waves, the rescue was difficult and time consuming, because they had to tow both boats and rescue the men to safety. Naturally, the safety of the men was the main priority. The sea was high and the waves pounded on the rocks, so the five men risked their lives in a shipwreck if they were not rescued in time. Fortunately, they were rescued successfully and brought to a safe place later that evening.

Tea Vichet, he owns GTVC speedboats.

Good work, Okna.
He was the bloke who picked up the body of that British backpacker girl who went missing off a Koh Rong beach one midnight early this year, after fishermen found her many kilometres away.
This scenario ^^^ is one of my nightmares.
(although conditions here are extremely mild)
The relentless onshore monsoon pusshing your boat onto the long rocky stretches of coastline.
You think the Gulf is placid? Those rocky shores, or vast sand bars, can be nearly as wild as the Pacific ocean on a bad hair day. Completey unmanagable if you ever lost power and control of you boat.
Terrifying nightmare stuff. Even a crusty barnacled old surfer like me would be broken to peices on those rocks, or drowned like a rat on the shoals.

I find it strange that fishermen that risk their lives every day at sea out of sight of land in all sorts of weather would not take the chance of swimming that short distance to the shore.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.

Also I don’t think he actually rescued anyone personally but his staff did.
All good PR though.

If you had to be rescued and owed a debt to that person for saving you , who would you prefer it be,,, The Devil of the Deep Blue Sea or an Okna.
