Poison Candy

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Poison Candy

Post by Stiliko »

The little lady and her friends are abuzz, as far as i can tell, something about poisoned candy killing children in Cambodia. They blame of course the old bug bear, the evil Yuan, who are perpetually scheming against the Khmer people. Either intentional or just shoddy QC I can’t make out. Anyone know what’s at the bottom of all this?

A simple facebook search using the Khmer words you gave show this isn't new. Was posted more than 1 year ago. Never trust anything you see on Facebook, most of the time its fake or a repost.

No shit! Really? And here I was taking everything on FB as gospel! Thanks for the heads up bro!

Now maybe you can tell me WTF it matters whether it was posted yesterday or a year ago?

Any insights?

How rude. It was incase your little lady thought this was recent. Next time I won't bother trying to inform you.

Also the reason why it matters is because your posting like people care or are surprised. People die here everyday from products here which have no QC. Only last week a batch of rice wine killed aload of people and they shut the business down. This is SEA get use to stories like that, majority of people here arent interested in a story thats over a year old.

The actual Facebook post doesn't actually mention about Vietnam, perhaps that is editorial license on the part of your partner/gf?

Only speculation about the motive or reason for this... genuine concern? Khmer nationalism? Some businesses are trying to promote Khmer products?
