Following the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Outbreak - News and Discussion

Yeah, that place out 'there'. Anything not really Cambodia related should go here.

if you shit in the pool, it's not good enough to just clear the water next to you
turd will eventually float back to you

if cambodia is really virus-free they should keep up the strict border policy
virus spread might be very different in rainy season
let countries next door do that research

Everyone knows that the air in Cambodia is naturally virus resistant. Exhibit A. Thousands came from Wuhan and other parts of China to Siem Reap. And even more are coming every day. Except for a few, most go back virus free.

Now if the Kingdom of Wonder could bottle that air, some would make a fortune selling it.

Beijing lockdown tightens as new coronavirus outbreak spreads

The outbreak in Beijing is off and running.

China capital enters ‘extraordinary period’ after another 36 new cases are linked to a second seafood market

Beijing authorities have locked down residential compounds and fired officials over a new Covid-19 outbreak as health officials warned the risk of the outbreak worsening was “very high”.

On Monday, authorities announced 49 new cases, 36 of which were linked to the Xinfadi seafood supermarket in Beijing’s southern Fengtai district. The market was closed on Saturday after it was identified as being at the centre of a new cluster of cases.

“The risk of the epidemic spreading is very high, so we should take resolute and decisive measures,” Xu Hejian, a spokesman for the Beijing city government, said at a press briefing on Monday. On Sunday he said Beijing had entered “an extraordinary period”.

They just cannot clean up their unsanitary markets, it's impossible.

I think it might be time to just bomb all of their labs in an attempt to stop this shit from happening every few-five years, and apparently getting worse each time.
Do you think the parents of baby boomers whined so much when the boomers started changing society? And yet the whiney ones like to call young people "snowflakes." Hmm...

2nd wave in China>>

this will affect how other countries go on opening up to soon.
Beijing’s airports cancelled more than 1,200 flights and schools in the Chinese capital were closed again today (June 17) as authorities rushed to contain a new coronavirus outbreak linked to a wholesale food market.
The city reported 31 new cases today while officials urged residents not to leave Beijing, with fears growing about a second wave of infections in China, which had largely brought its outbreak under control.

Tens of thousands of people linked to the new Beijing virus cluster - believed to have started in the sprawling Xinfadi wholesale food market - are being tested, with almost 30 residential compounds in the city now under lockdown.

At least 1,255 scheduled flights were cancelled this morning, state-run People’s Daily reported, nearly 70% of all trips to and from Beijing’s main airports.

It was an insanity to think that a respiratory disease can be contained. Now what, they are going to double down on insanity? I don’t know about China, but where i am people won’t have more of it. New orders to stay home will be ignored even by the elderly. As for asians - they are too docile, they will jump off the cliff if told by authorities.

Right, they are very docile, BUT when you talk to the average Thai, they are really PISSED OFF inside!

Global coronavirus report: WHO warns of 'new and dangerous phase'
Daily infections rise above 150,000, with nearly half the new cases in the Americas

The coronavirus pandemic is accelerating, and the world has entered “a new and dangerous phase” in its spread, as daily infections rise above 150,000, the World Health Organization’s director has warned this week.

Nearly half the new cases are in the Americas, with the US and Brazil between them accounting for more than a third of total infections and deaths. Brazil reached the grim milestone of 1 million coronavirus cases on Friday.

Meanwhile other countries that appeared to have the virus under control, from South Korea to Germany, have reported fresh outbreaks or rising case numbers, raising fears of a second wave of infections.

Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said it was vital that the economic and social pressure to drop restrictions did not give the pandemic room to flourish.

“Countries are understandably eager to open up their societies and economies but the virus is still spreading fast, it is still deadly and most people are still susceptible,” he told a news briefing on Friday. “We call on all countries and all people to exercise extreme vigilance.”

Several US states, including Oklahoma where Donald Trump is set to hold his first campaign rally in months on Saturday, have reported their highest daily infection rates since the start of the pandemic.
